Retro-Go

A pocketable multi-system retro game console — load your game files onto an SD card and play classic titles right on your Attaky.

Retro-Go turns your Attaky Core + Gamepad into a handheld emulator for a whole shelf of classic systems. Drop your game files onto a microSD card, pick a title from the on-screen library, and play — with save states, cover art and fast switching between systems.

Highlights

  • Many classic systems — Nintendo (NES, SNES, Game Boy / Game Boy Color), Sega (Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive / Genesis), PC Engine, Atari Lynx and more.
  • Cover-art library — browse your collection by system with box art and a recent list.
  • Save states — pause, save and resume any game exactly where you left off.
  • Plays from SD — your game files live on a microSD card; swap in as many as it holds.
  • Handheld controls — the Gamepad module gives you a full D-pad and action buttons.
  • Fast and light — instant boot, quick game switching, low power draw.

A console in your pocket

Retro-Go boots straight to a system carousel — flip between Nintendo, Sega, PC Engine and the rest, browse each system's library with cover art, and jump into a game in a couple of taps. Save states mean you can stop mid-level and pick up later.

Bring your own game files

Retro-Go plays game files you provide from a microSD card — it ships with no games. Organise them by system on the card and Retro-Go builds the library automatically. (Please only use game files you are legally entitled to.)

Built on Retro-Go

This is the open-source Retro-Go project (ducalex/retro-go, 1.44), ported by Attaky to the Core + Gamepad hardware. Licensed under GPL-2.0; corresponding source is published per the license. With thanks to Retro-Go's author and contributors.

Compatibility

Requires the Attaky Core, the Gamepad module and the Media-IO module (sound), plus a microSD card for game files. Optional: battery module, which shows the battery level (all current Attaky battery modules are supported).

Upstream / license

Upstream ducalex/retro-go 1.44, GPL-2.0. Attaky ported it to the Core + Gamepad hardware (target ATK-RetroSeries-V1). Corresponding source is published per the license. Thanks to Retro-Go's author and contributors.

Install

Install straight from the Attaky firmware store — open this listing in your browser and flash it to your Attaky in one tap. There's nothing to download or install; the firmware store writes it to your device for you.

Release Notes
Retro-Go 1.44-A002 — Release Notes

1.44-A002 = upstream Retro-Go 1.44 + Attaky revision A002.
- Battery level now also works with the newer Attaky battery modules, in addition to the original battery module.
- The battery level is read more reliably: the device keeps the last good reading if one measurement fails, and finds a battery module that is attached later.
